Snow Day 2013

In honor of the second ridiculously late snow storm we got today, I’ve finally put together a video of the snow storm we had a few weeks ago. Despite my extreme dislike for snow, it was a fun day since it was Joshua’s first real time in the snow! Also, Aiden wasn’t scared of sledding this time around!

Christmas 2012

As always, these are a bit late, but here are some pictures from our Christmas celebration this past year! We staying in Staunton for our Christmas Eve service since I was speaking, but then headed up to the Mercurio’s in MD to arrive just before midnight!? It was a sleepy Christmas morning but it was so much fun watching the boys enjoy with their gifts. Joshua was old enough to start understanding the gift giving =). A few days later, Grandma and Grandpa Walter came down to VA for a small Walter family celebration! There are more pictures if you click one to see the rest of the album…

Family Camping Trip

Faith and I decided to attempt our first family camping trip with both Aiden and Joshua! I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little apprehensive seeing as Joshua is only 9 months old, but we were pretty determined to make it happen. We drove out west to Bath County near Williamsville, VA and simply did an overnight. Surprisingly, the next went pretty well! Joshua took a bit longer to get to sleep in the tent, but overall it was a great night. We slept less than normal because both boys were able to crawl on us as soon as they woke up, but it was a fun experience =). In the morning, Aiden said, “Daddy, this is my favorite camping trip!” (He’s only gone on two now, but I’d say that’s still a success!). Hopefully there will be many more to come!

Family Reunion Weekend

Got to visit with the Mercurio family last weekend. Aiden and Joshua got so spend lots of time with Grandma and Grandpa Mercurio, Aunt Linnea, and Uncle Jon and Aunt Kate! We had planned to go swimming on saturday, but because of the rain we headed to the nearby fountain. The boys loved it!

Joshua is 8 months old!

Douthat State Park Vacation

This past week, Faith and I took the boys down to Douthat State Park for a short vacation. We spent a couple nights in one of the cabins in the park! We didn’t have the best weather but it was still a great time! We’ll definitely be heading back here in the future. There are too many great pictures from the trip so click on one to get to the rest of the album…hopefully I’ll get some of the video’s up soon!

Family Hike to Rip Rap Falls!

Success! This past Saturday, Faith and I decided to go for it! We took both boys on our first family hike since Joshua was born! It wasn’t a really long hike (3 miles round trip) but we felt it was quite an accomplishment for us all! Aiden even walked most of the hike himself =). He was a little nervous about the stream crossings but we just grabbed his hand and pulled him in haha! He did great! We went up to Rip Rap falls from a trailhead in Crimora, VA. The plan was to go swimming since it had been in the 90′s the day before, but once we were up in the mountains, it was quite a bit cooler!? Swimming will have to wait til summer!

Josh, one of our friends from church, also came with us. After eating an early lunch, Faith and the boys headed back to the car and Josh and I hike up further to fish for some native brook trout. Fun day!

Aiden’s first time fishing!

If you’ve seen my facebook page in the past few weeks, you know that I’ve been doing a bit of fishing. I’ve definitely rediscovered how much fun it can be! The more I’ve been fishing, the more I’ve been thinking about taking Aiden out. He’s definitely young but today I decided to go for it =). He absolutely loved it! He still doesn’t understand that the hooks are sharp and dangerous, but thankfully there were no injuries today. For most of the day, I would hook a fish and then have Aiden help reel it in, but at the pond, Aiden actually caught two completely on his own! Having a fish on the line freaked him out a little though =). One of them is in the video, the other isn’t because Aiden caught the fish without us watching! Tyler and I were casting while Aiden walked off a bit. All of a sudden he shouted, “Daddy, that’s a big fish!” I turned around just as he was throwing the rod into the water! Fortunately I was able to grab it and sure enough, he had a 12″ smallmouth! It was bigger than any of the fish I caught!
